Job Description











Responsible to develop the overarching Functional Development for the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement organization, working closely with and in coordination and alignment with Human Resources.  Specifically, in coordination with the Talent Management COE within HR will develop a learning strategy for specific roles within the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement organization including functional competency models, related curriculum and career path models.  The resource will be responsible to develop learning modules (classroom, experiential rotations, etc.) that are role specific to address specific competency areas for role based competencies and specifically aligned to the curriculum for each role-based competency model.  Lastly, in partnership with the HR and Supply Chain Systems organization, develop system solutions to deliver competency models, curriculum and career path models to end-users in accordance with both the HR and IT governance model for systems delivery.



Responsibilities:



Define a comprehensive strategy for helping the organization to develop robust functional skills and capabilities.  These would include Functional Competency Model and its application, training course curriculum, Functional Career Path Models, and System Delivery Solution for such activity – specifics for each area are noted below:



  1. Competency Model – Administration and Application


  • Working closely with HR and business/regional supply chain organizations, standardize roles for the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement organization globally including defining key knowledge, skills, attributes and behaviors (KSABs) for each role in form of a comprehensive functional competency model


  • Working in coordination with HR and business/regional supply chain organizations, develop standard levels of competency (i.e. competency standard) for each role in the form of Masters, Demonstrates & Needs Development levels of knowledge for each competency allowing end-users to assess their competency against the required competency standard.


  • Working closely with HR and in accordance with HR guidelines, ensure that competency model KSABs are compatible with Verizon’s Learning Management System (LMS).


  1. Curriculum – Function Based Training

    • Using role-based competency models, develop required curriculum for each competency model inclusive of assessments, specific course work, experiential learning, rotations/experiences, etc. that will allow end-users to better understand required skill sets and experience to perform a specific role to expected standards.


    • Working closely with HR and business/regional supply chain organizations, develop specific courses and experiential rotations to address curriculum for each role.




  1. Career Path Models – Function Focused

    • Using Verizon’s Leadership competencies, Functional Competency Models and associated curriculum, develop a comprehensive career path model that defines for end-users a roadmap for career progression both for building depth of knowledge in a particular job role (Vertical career path), required experiences or skill sets to move between roles within the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement organization (Horizontal career path) and required experiences or skill sets for key leadership roles (Leadership career path) with the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement or Verizon organization.


    • Ensure linkage of career path models to Verizon’s Leadership competencies and the Functional Competency Models as well as associated curriculum.


    • Increase readiness and success rate with those individuals identified as having potential to assume positions within the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement organization.




  1. System Solutions

    • Working closely with HR and the Supply Chain Systems organization, develop a comprehensive system solution to house competency models, curriculum and career path models that are full aligned with and leverage existing HR systems and tools.


    • Develop the business case for system solutions including associated costs and return on investment to establish an executable budget for system solutions.




 
 

Qualifications



Required Skills:



  • Any UG or PG preferred with at least 8 years’ of relevant experience.


  • Minimum of 8 years working and hands on knowledge with an Learning and Talent Development area, with key understandings of affective learning methodologies including system delivery solutions


  • Working knowledge of Supply Chain roles (Category or Commodity Management, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Logistics, Supplier Quality, etc.) strongly preferred


  • Working knowledge of Functional Talent Development and career development methodologies strongly preferred


  • Ability to take practical work experience and convert to learning requirements (i.e. coursework, experiential rotations, etc.) and competencies (i.e. Knowledge, Skills, Attributes and Behaviors) to teach employees key skills and behaviors needed to be successful in specific roles


  • Passion to Teach – ability to nurture a learning environment with employees


  • Classroom style teaching experience preferred


  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems


  • Strong Team skills and ability to work across organization and regional boundaries to develop practical and global learning and development solutions for employees.


  • Deep expertise in Instructional Design and Delivery.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrate by practical examples
